THANKS FOR PURCHASING YOUR CLONES WITH CLTVTD GENETICS!

Welcome growers!

Now that you’ve bought your clones from CLTVTD, let’s find ways to keep your plants healthy and you happy.

Preventative treatment is key. It’s the same as taking vitamins to keep yourself healthy. Why wait until you have a pest problem to do anything? It winds up costing more money, causing more stress, and increasing the likelihood of damage to your plants.

Do you have a clone intake program? If not, you should! Even if the source you buy from takes all the precautions they can, there’s always the chance that there’s something on the plants.

Even when buying clones from a highly reputable source, it’s always a good idea to quarantine the clones for a few days if possible. We understand you might not have the space, but, if you can, keep the new plants separate from any growing areas or other plants for 2-3 days and do visual inspections by eye and with a hand lens.

Do they look clean and free from pests? Great! On to the next step.

It’s always a good idea to do a root drench and a quick foliage spray. We recommend a drench in an entomopathogenic fungi, such as Botanigard or PFR 97, and spraying the foliage with Circadian Sunrise.

If you’re an indoor grower, keep reading. If you’re growing outdoors, skip to the next section:

Indoors

Some common indoor cannabis pests are aphids, mites, thrips, and fungus gnats.

Aphids are easily identifiable and usually reside on the underside of the leaf. They reproduce at an amazing rate and an infestation immediately. Within two weeks, the infestation may be untreatable.

Spider mites are just visible to the naked eye and a magnifying glass may be needed to see them clearly. Yellowed pin pricks on the leaves are an indicator of a spider mite infestation.

Thrips are large enough to see without a magnifying glass and can range in color from yellow to orange to brown. They leave irregular silvery patches on the leaf surface.

Fungus gnats are more common in indoor grows, and only the larval stage harms plants. They’re a vector of viruses and diseases. The winged, alate, form of aphids can resemble fungus gnats, but the body of the fungus gnat is much more elongated.

Now that you know what to look for, we’ll separate this section into three parts. Preventative, light/med pest pressure, and heavy pest pressure.

Please keep in mind these are generalizations, and for specific integrated pest management advice, you should consult a Shale Peak specialist. The type of growing medium and whether it is indoors or in a greenhouse can have a large impact on which type of beneficial insect will be most efficacious. We’re happy to help and make a treatment plan specifically for you.

All of the members of the Lepidoptera family, moths and butterflies, are a disaster for cannabis. The easily recognizable caterpillars will devour the plants.
