This product is a slightly new variation of the Phytoseiulus persimilis, one of the most important and voracious predators of the Two Spotted Spider Mite. Unlike the classic P. persimilis, these predators arrive clear and turn their trademark orange hue after they had fed on Two Spotted Spider mites, so their efficacy can actually be seen.
They also have an artificial food source included in the sachet version, allowing them to contain all stages of life and release new predators over a two-week period.

This predator feeds on all stages of Spider Mites with a preference for eggs and can consume 5 adults or up to 20 eggs in a single day. Adult P. persimilis also attack adult Spider Mites but the smaller development stages only feed on smaller prey stages. This predatory mite is a specialist predator and can only survive on Two Spotted Spider Mites as a food source, so it is not recommended as a purely preventative beneficial.

  • Let the predatory mites come to room temperature with container on its’ side. Roll or tip, depending on whether a bottle or bag, container back and forth a few times to gently mix contents and then tap out of container onto the affected foliage for best results. When left in one position for too long, predatory mites will gather at the top, leaving the bottom with a much lower proportion of mites, so rotating the container as it is being tapped out is suggested.
  • Alternatively, contents can be placed in Bugboxes and hung on plants.
