Delphastus catalinae, both the adults and larvae, are predators of various species of Whitefly, although they will feed on Aphids and Spider Mites if their preferred prey are not present. These predators work best in high pest density areas, such as hotspots, as they need to consume 100-150 Whitefly eggs a day to reproduce. One beetle can eat up to 160 eggs or 12 larvae per day. They sometimes can play dead by retracting their legs and head. Activity can be confirmed by the presence of yellow excrement on the underside of the leaf.
